One of the research areas of the Digital Musicology Laboratory at the University of Wrocław focuses on paleographic analysis and transcription of musical manuscripts. We are also engaged in initiatives related to the development and processing of archives from cultural institutions. A key aspect of our work is the application of new technologies in ways that contribute to a deeper understanding and broader dissemination of musical traditions. Our activities include:
- Optical Music Recognition (OMR) and text recognition (OCR, HTR)
- Performing transcriptions using machine learning
- Analyzing historical musical notations with AI algorithms
- Paleographic analysis with scribe identification
- Creating corpora
- Researching and preserving musical heritage
- Promoting musical heritage
- Co-developing digital repositories
- Providing access to digitized resources using IIIF
- Reconstructing musical compositions
- Establishing and developing research and educational collaborations
- Paleographic analysis with scribe identification
- Encoding results in MEI format
